The right to education for women

Several organizations encourage women empowerment through education at different levels by offering specific undergraduate, masters and PhD scholarships for women from developing countries especially women from Africa. Other scholarships may target a specific field to incentivize women to study it. For example, there are scholarships for women in STEM, business, nursing, and beyond.

Unless a scholarship has criteria that say otherwise, both men and women might apply. But some providers want to award aid for women and girls only. Female scholarships thus restrict applicants to persons who identify with the female gender.

There are sponsorship programmes that reduce the competition by offering African women scholarships.

Below is an updated list of scholarships (undergraduate, Masters, MBA and PhD) that are open for women from African and developing countries.

Please note that application deadlines and other information provided on this site can change at any time. You are therefore advised to visit the recommended scholarship organisation website
